Kahina Giving Beauty

For the past two decades, Katharine L’Heureux has dedicated her career to beauty and wellness, running a successful public relations firm that concentrated on natural and sustainable food and beauty brands. But when it came to skincare, she found herself constantly disappointed by the lotions and serums in her medicine cabinet and spent years searching—unsuccessfully—for a straightforward, natural and organic alternative that was both effective and luxurious.

Katherine’s search ended on a 2007 trip to Morocco, where she was introduced to Argan oil, used by the local Berber women for centuries to protect, nourish and enhance the quality of their skin. Amazed by the results on her own face, Katherine discovered the story behind Argan oil was just as fascinating as the ingredient itself. Inspired, she set out to create a skincare line that delivers the restorative benefits of Argan oil, and donates a percentage of profits to support programs that improve the lives of the Berber women.

In 2009, Kahina Giving Beauty (named after an ancient Berber Queen) launched with four all-natural products and one vision: connect women across the world through shared beauty rituals. Since then, Katharine has returned to Morocco many times to personally source the oil for her products and ensure the ethical treatment of the women there. On one special visit, Katharine collected the signatures of several of the women, and you’ll find their handwritten scrawls on every product.
